so i have a 3 page paper to write for my pop culture class on tuesday. a 3 page paper. seriously. i don't know if i remember how to write a 3 page paper. that's like a 5 paragraph essay. anyway, for the paper, we had to keep a log of all of the entertainment we took part in for 1 week, including just listening to the radio in the car, and looking at it now i think my life is really sad. then i was thinking that i can't really do much besides watch tv because of my back, so i have a real excuse, but then i was thinking that i'm not fooling anyone. i wouldn't be doing anymore anyway. meh.

so, the little brother left early early this morning. he wasn't even home for 48 hours, which is probably why he wasn't an ass like normal. he even sat with me during the reunion presentation. we had nametags on, and since we have the same last name alumns kept asking if he was my husband. not so funny. i saw a bunch of guys i hadn't seen since high school, and a lot of his high school friends (seniors during my first season coaching), and lots of my guys from last season. the diving coach (family friend, mother of my prom date) came up to me and said, "so i hear you are the new jv coach!"-- as in second in command to the head coach as opposed to last in the chain of many coaches like last year. i knew i was the only one besides the head coach who would be there full time (we lost 3 coaches to various things, 3 others are part time), but ummm- did anyone think to ask me if i could take on this job? or i if wanted it? the jv coach coaches the guys who swim the league meet (as in not the state meet, but not the district meet that they don't score), and they have never lost the league meet. we have 25 state titles, 3 national titles, and like 75 league titles! 75! i don't think i want to be responsible for breaking that streak. seriously. and, i'm worried that i've been fooling everyone into thinking i know what i'm doing, but really, i know nothing! nothing, i tell you. that's why i like coaching the freshmen, they know even less than i do. but, as the little bro pointed out, "opportunity, meet knocking. you need to take this." we'll see.
